There’s no collusion with the Republicans. And there is truly no collusion with Donald Trump. CHANG: Mueller has not charged any Americans with conspiring with Russians. KELLY: But he has secured the convictions of human beings in Trump’s orbit on crimes ranging from financial institution and tax fraud to lying to the FBI and Congress. And as Mueller indicted humans, including former campaign chairman Paul Manafort and former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, President Trump made employee changes. (SOUNDBITE OF ARCHIVED RECORDING) TRUMP: Sessions must have never recused himself. And if he was going to recuse himself, he had to have informed me earlier than he took the job, and I would have picked somebody else.

CHANG: Trump did select someone else after firing Attorney General Jeff Sessions someday after the midterm elections in November 2018. Sessions had recused himself from overseeing the investigation because he was a Trump surrogate at some stage in the marketing campaign and had met with the Russian ambassador. Trump finally nominated William Barr to take over the process. KELLY: And involved Senate Democrats wanted him to assure that he could allow the Mueller investigation to continue. Barr had these reassuring phrases for the lawmakers. (SOUNDBITE OF ARCHIVED RECORDING) WILLIAM BARR: Under the rules, Bob Mueller may want to be terminated most effectively for a desirable reason. And I – frankly, it’s impossible that Bob would ever do something that gave rise to true sense. KELLY: And now, Attorney General William Barr has the document.
